Welcome to the Victorian Legal Admissions Board's short video outlining practical legal training for admission. The academic prerequisite is completion of an approved academic course in Australia. This needs to include the equivalent of three years full-time study in law.
If you have wholly or partially completed your qualifications in a foreign jurisdiction, you may not need to complete the academic prerequisite, but you must satisfy the requirements of your foreign assessment.
Once you have completed your academic course, you then complete your practical legal training through an approved PLT provider. If you have received a foreign assessment, you need to contact our office after you have satisfied the requirements set out in your assessment, and we will commence and online foreign PLTC application for you.
All applications are made using the online application portal. During the course of your application, there will be questions and document uploads that will be required. All details must be entered carefully and the contact information accurately reflected in your identification documents.
Your ID should be consistent with your academic transcript and practical legal training certificate If you change your name and it differs from that on your documentation.
Change of name documents are to be uploaded to the portal. You should answer all questions and upload all required documents as you progress through your application, to the end of the application.
